Terms of Service

Important: We Are Not Lawyers

Remedy Navigators provides educational information and administrative assistance with the federal and state prison grievance processes. We are not a law firm, and nothing on this website or in our services constitutes legal advice, legal representation, or an attorney-client relationship. If you need legal advice, please consult a licensed attorney. Our tools and guides are designed to help you understand the process, but they cannot replace professional legal counsel.

1. Service Description

Remedy Navigators provides the following services to federal and state inmates and their families:

  • Educational content: Guides explaining the Administrative Remedy Process (ARP), state grievance procedures, the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), and related legal frameworks.
  • Interactive tools: Deadline calculators, release date calculators, self-assessment quizzes, form templates, and a prison terminology dictionary.
  • Case management assistance: Intake form processing, document storage, deadline tracking, and status updates for paid members.
  • Form preparation: Assistance with drafting and organizing BP-8 through BP-11 forms and SF-95 FTCA claims for paid members.

2. Membership and Payment

Certain features require a paid membership. Memberships are billed monthly through Stripe. By subscribing, you agree to:

  • Pay the monthly fee associated with your chosen plan (Essential, Advocate, or Guardian).
  • Automatic renewal each month until you cancel.
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.

Free features — including all educational content, calculators, the form library, the prison dictionary, and the intake form — remain available without a paid membership.

3. Limitations of Service

We cannot guarantee outcomes. The administrative remedy process is controlled by the Bureau of Prisons and state Departments of Correction. While we help you file correctly and on time, we cannot guarantee that your grievance will be granted, that deadlines will be extended, or that any particular result will occur.

We do not file on your behalf. We prepare forms and provide guidance, but the actual filing — mailing, submitting to a counselor, or sending to a regional office — is your responsibility (or your family member's responsibility).

We are not responsible for missed deadlines if you do not act on our reminders or if circumstances beyond our control (mail delays, facility lockdowns, BOP processing errors) prevent timely filing.

Information accuracy. We make every effort to keep our guides, calculators, and form templates accurate and up to date. However, BOP policies, federal regulations, and state laws change. Always verify current requirements with the relevant institution or a licensed attorney.

4. User Responsibilities

By using Remedy Navigators, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information in all forms and submissions.
  • Not use our service for frivolous, fraudulent, or malicious filings.
  • Keep your account credentials secure and not share them with unauthorized individuals.
  • Understand that you are responsible for meeting all filing deadlines, even when using our reminder system.
  • Not upload illegal, harmful, or copyrighted content to the document vault.

5. Deadline Calculator Disclaimer

Our deadline and release date calculators provide estimates only. Actual deadlines may differ based on factors including but not limited to: weekends and federal holidays, BOP processing delays, mail transit times, facility-specific policies, and changes in law or regulation. Always confirm deadlines with your institution and consider filing well before the calculated date.

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, REMEDY NAVIGATOR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: MISSED FILING DEADLINES, DISMISSED GRIEVANCES OR LAWSUITS, LOSS OF LEGAL RIGHTS, OR ADVERSE ACTIONS BY CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

7. Termination

You may cancel your membership at any time. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse our service. Upon termination, your access to paid features will end, but we will retain your case data for a reasonable period to allow you to request a copy.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
